INTRODUCTION OF PWF

PWF was created at Islamabad by a group of 5 retired officers of 1st SSC in March 2018. It is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), formed purely for welfare of the retired armed forces personnel; specially soldiers and military widows. Unfortunately, a yawning communication gap exists between organisational and financial institutions and the pensioners since they are largely unaware of their initial pensionary entitlements as well as amendments-cum-benefits announced by the government from time to time. Being ignorant, a large number of pensioners are deprived of their well earned pension benefits. PWF has voluntarily accepted the responsibility to keep the pensioners abreast with the latest information and guide/assist them in getting their entitlements in time.

In addition to pensioners’ issues, PWF also initiated its research work on Pension Reforms when it concluded that issues facing the current Pension system were too grave to be ignored; specially because impact of exponentially rising pension liability is likely to affect current and future pensioners alike. To this end, PWF, with extensive interaction with all related financial, institutional and academia organisations, has developed a detailed plan for Pension Reforms in Pakistan.

PWF neither has any political agenda nor it harbours any ill will against any government organisation. The sphere of PWF’s struggle remains confined within the bounds of rules and regulations in vogue.

AIM

Aim of PWF: To assist the retired armed forces personnel, especially widows and soldiers, in securing their full pension entitlements and helping them in the resolution of their pension-related issues. To achieve this aim, PWF will undertake studies to analyze pension rules and disbursement procedures; and highlight pension anomalies and other anticipated issues to the concerned government, military, military accounts, and legal authorities for improvement of the pension system.

PWF Objectives:

The PWF has been established with the following objectives in view:

  1. To apprise the policy makers and military leadership about disparities, anomalies and misinterpretation in application of rules & regulations to the detriment of pensioners benefit and suggest remedial measures.
  2. To facilitate and assist pensioners, especially widows and families of Shuhada and In-Service Death (ISD) cases, in resolving their pension related issues through liaison and meetings with Services HQ and Military Accounts department.
  3. To act as a think tank and undertake research on the need for starting a self-sustainable Contributory Pension System in Pakistan to reduce burden of pension budget on the national exchequer. PWF will, through intensive interaction with financial specialists, policy makers and leadership, share its study at various forums to assist the policy makers and the military leadership in taking timely measures.
  4. To study options to improve post-retirement placement, health care, housing and insurance for military pensioners; especially soldiers, widows and families of Shuhada. Accordingly, develop and propose PWF’s proposals to appropriate quarters.
  5. Keep the military pensioners informed through all possible means including website and social media network and continuously enhance its membership; thus, have better insight to the issues being faced by various segments of the military pensioners across the ranks and file spectrum
  6. To organize PWF as a self-sustained tri-services association working on voluntary basis.
